 Ashes Series 2006/07

“Having been on the 2005 ODI tour of England with AST I was delighted to be able to attend the 2nd Test at Adelaide and to catch up with friends made on the tour. AST’s superb organisation of the England tour gave me the confidence to again book my tour through that company. I recommend AST without reservation”.
- Tony Mulroy, Newcastle, NSW (Adelaide Ashes Test 2006, AST Ashes Tour Member 2005)

“Good value package and professionally handled by AST. We would definitely use AST again”.
- Phil Short, West Yorkshire, England (Brisbane Ashes Test 2006)

“AST made the booking process easy with very good staff. Their professional approach was very good. The Ashes Test was outstanding to watch and the accommodation was also great in a great part of town. I would recommend AST to anyone”.
- Richard Hallett, Hobart, Tasmania (Brisbane Ashes Test 2006)

“Fantastic event, superior service and a brilliant time had by all. Thank you for making the 2006 Ashes Tour in Brisbane a memorable event for everyone”.
- Sophia Fitzgerald, DTZ Australia (Brisbane Ashes Test 2006)

“Everybody contacted by Wayne or I was very professional in their approach. It was a treat to be offered such a well organised tour. This extremely professional approach made this a memorable trip for Wayne & myself”.
- Wayne & John Hope, Christchurch, New Zealand (Brisbane Ashes Test 2006)

“A fantastic experience, and everything went smoothly (apart from England’s performance…!)”
- Kate Wilkinson, London UK (Adelaide & Brisbane Ashes Tests, 2006)

“My wife and I, plus brother and sister in law from the UK, thoroughly enjoyed our AST ”Ashes in Adelaide” packages. We were disappointed the Poms let us down, but it was a great game and the seats at the Adelaide Oval and the accommodation at the Mercure Grosvenor was terrific (breakfast particularly good!). Also, AST organised everything with a minimum of fuss”.
- Keith Taylor, Melbourne (Adelaide Ashes Test 2006)

“AST provided us with a very enjoyable package for the Ashes Test in Adelaide when we were desperate to find a way of attending, and organising from England!”
- Chris Bascombe, Norwhich, England (Adelaide Ashes Test 2006)

“Organisation and selection of tickets for the Adelaide Test Match was excellent. Shaded seats in Chappel Stand provided good view of the cricket and we would use AST again. Hotel Majestic was very comfortable and quiet, with polite and helpful staff, a good experience”.
- Mark Foster, Western Australia (Adelaide Ashes Test 2006)

“At first we thought organised tours to the cricket were for retiree’s! But when we wanted to get tickets to our favourite Ashes Test Match in another state a package deal with AST was perfect! And we were surprised to find that we weren’t the only 25 year olds on the tour! Service great – fast and efficient. All staff happy to provide me with all the information I needed!”
- Anne & Adam, Sydney, NSW (Melbourne Ashes Test 2006)

“We cannot thank AST enough for providing us with the opportunity to be part of the great occasion that was the 5th Ashes Test at the SCG. The seats were excellent, the recommended accommodation exceeded expectation and our yellow and green AST caps were worn with pride”.
- Keith & Ingrid Woods, Perth, WA (Sydney Ashes Test 2007)

“Even though the Ashes had been won by Australia by the 3rd Test in Perth, the Sydney Test was still a great event to be at. The retirement on 3 Aussie legends and the prospect of 5-0 whitewash made this match extremely exciting. The farewell to Warne, McGrath and Langer at the end of the match on day 4 was very emotional. All the above allowed myself and son to witness a very historic cricket match. Thank you AST”.
- Rob Boyd, Perth, WA (Sydney Ashes Test 2007)

“A very pleasant Test Match package arranged through AST and based on this experience I will consider joining their future major tours to places such as the West Indies and South Africa”
- Ken Rouse, ACT (Sydney Ashes Test 2007)

“AST are always friendly, efficient and obliging; queries are dealt with promptly. It takes the stress out of arranging sporting holidays”.
- David Brisset, Hampton, VIC (Sydney Ashes Test 2007)

South Africa Tour 2006

"Sean, just a short note to thank you and Kristy, Simon, Sam for a great experience. Glenda & I had a ball (still trying to extract the bus microphone from Glenda's hand). I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to move 120+ people around SA with the minimum of fuss. I'm not sure if we were just lucky or not but the group of people on our tour were terrific. No whinging, no cliques, everybody seemed to get on with each other. Great group, made the trip fantastic for all. People were genuinely disappointed about leaving the tour to go home.

We thought Kerry was sensational! He really seemed to enjoy himself which reflected in the way he mixed with everybody. I'm sure some former players may struggle trying to mix with groups but it seemed to be second nature to Kerry. I'll bet he'll be in demand for future tours.

Once again thanks. We look forward to something as good in the West Indies next year!"

"I had high expectations and congratulations on exceeding these in every way. I wouldn't hesitate to book with you again and have already been recommending you to others".

Grant & Sam Wasley

"This was a fantastic time, able to relax and be organised. Great cricket, good seats, better than good group of people, tourist bits terrific. Kerry O'Keeffe is a gem! Thanks a million for a great tour - take a bow".

Bruce Howlett

"A big thank you to Jamie & Stuart for all their help throughout the tour! Thank you we had a wonderful time".

Bill & Debbie Dixon

"Dear Sam, We are safely home. We loved Vic Falls & enjoyed Kruger. We had a great time thank you! The only comment I have is you don't have to be a cricket follower to have a great time. Why do all the wives/partners stay at home? Best wishes for Germany".

Ruth & Eric

"We would recommend (AST) to any of our friends and we are looking forward to doing another tour, maybe the Ashes in 2009. We can't say enough for our tour hosts, Jamie, Stuart and Terry Alderman for the manner in which they organised and looked after us, nothing was ever a trouble. Congratulations and thank you all".

Ashes 2005

"I have now completed my sixth overseas cricket tour with Australian Sports Tours.

How so lucky I have been, to travel and see countries and places I never dreamed I would; England Ashes in 2001, South Africa World Cup and the West Indies in 2003; then New Zealand and England again in 2005, all the time watching the Australian Cricket Team in action first hand.

I have met people of all ages from all walks of life and made new friends. Throughout all this, I have been superbly looked after by Tour Host Merv Hughes and others and the very helpful and caring AST staff. Every tour has been different and great fun and to pick out one highlight is difficult.

However my very special memory is Barbados 2003 when I had the wonderful pleasure to personally congratulate Steve Waugh and many of the team on their great success and give them my personal thanks for the many years of enjoyment and pleasure they have given me.

Thank you AST and Merv!"

Beth "Nanna" Dunne
Tour member Ashes 2001, CWC South Africa 2003, West Indies 2003, New Zealand 2005, Ashes 2005

“Too many highlights to mention. Loved the lot!”

“You must be feeling justly proud of the success of the tour, and rightly so”

“Home safe and sound. Thankyou for a lovely trip. The organisation was excellent and the content pleased everybody”

Cricket World Cup - South Africa 2003

"To everyone at AST,
I just wanted to thank all the staff at AST for organising and conducting the recent World Cup tour of South Africa. It was certainly a trip I will never forget and a big contributing factor was the manner in which the tour was conducted. The professionalism of all the staff was amazing especially under some trying circumstances. So Jamie, as a result of having such a successful tour, all staff members should be entitled to a substantial pay rise! And for the record you can officially keep my money!"

Cheers,
Simon "Gibbo" Gibson

"Congratulations to Jamie Winton and the staff of Australian Sports Tours for arranging such an excellent tour to cover the recent World Cup in South Africa. Accommodation, tours and transport were professionally coordinated. We had a great time. Thankyou for such a comprehensive and enjoyable tour".

Joe & Kathy
Palmerston, NT

"My highlight of the tour was the comraderie of the group as a whole, with all aspects excellently handled by Jamie and his crew. Apart from the cricket matches, the side tours were most interesting especially the game parks. I thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the tour and regret I was not younger to fully participate more fully on the sports side.

I thought Joanne was a very caring young woman and thank her for her assistance when not feeling well at one stage. Also thank Merv for calling the medico's for me in Durban (when the heat was taking its toll). Jamie was a first class person to have around, very friendly and understanding.

I think AST put on a first class tour, one not to be missed, and will live in my memory for the rest of my life".

Laurence Neale

Note: Laurence, aged 83 years old, was an inspiration to all tour members. Clearly age was no barrier to "The Don" as he is affectionately known by other tour members, from having the time of his life!! Good on you Laurie and we hope to see you on tour again in the future!!

"Highlights of the trip for me included the Brett Lee hat trick, Ricky Ponting's 140 in the final, having a beer with Merv, and giving Jamie a lesson at golf. Thanks for everything, I had such a great time".

Best of luck, Pups Douglas

"Just wanted to drop you a note to thank yourself and all the staff at Australian Sports Tours for the World Cup Tour. I'd have to say that the trip was the best holiday I have been on and if the tour to the West Indies is half as good I'll be stoked. Please pass on my thanks to all the staff at AST, especially Gerhard and Jo. See you in about a month".

Cheers,
Scott

"Hello Everyone at AST

I was part of the Kookaburra group that embarked on the 27 Day Cricket World Cup tour to South Africa in March 2003. The Tour was absolutely fantastic with a wide range of ages which was no barrier to creating great friendships and even greater memories.

It would have been very hard for anyone to complain about the organisation, the side trips and of course the cricket. We had everything from game park tours, wine tastings, rugby games (yes rugby!! where on one particular night a group of about 80 Aussies on a Cricket Tour let everyone know who they were and who they were supporting - although I must admit, coming from the West, it was the first time I'd ever shouted myself hoarse over a NSW team), as well as cricket, cricket and more great cricket.

It was just the best holiday anyone could ask for and as Jamie mentioned in an address at the Farewell dinner, on returning home and speaking to different people about my experiences, more and more I realised just how special a time I had.

Attending the reunion during the Boxing Day test will certainly be a great opportunity to meet up with fellow tour members and reminisce about our travels together.

I am now eagerly looking forward to the 2005 Ashes Tour to England and going on my recent experience in South Africa, I am sure AST will once more provide an experience of a lifetime.

Congratulations to everyone at AST on a tour well planned and executed".

GO KOOKABURRAS!!!

"The player contact organised was way above expectations and certainly superior to that experienced on a previous tour with an opposition company - you guys are way ahead in the organisation stakes and also way ahead in leading tours! The general accessability and professionalism of tour leaders was excellent!"
- Errol

"There were many highlights and positive aspects to my tour! Merv Hughes and Colin Miller were fantastic as tour hosts - with these guys on board you will have many successful tours in the future! Jacqui, Kristy and Anthony as tour leaders was commendable - Thanks Guys! The quality of the seats at the cricket was excellent as was the contact with the Australian players - a definite highlight! Again, thanks for a great tour!"
- Pete

“What a great time we had! The only way that I can describe it to people is that it has been a multi layered experience, and I think you would have to agree – from the opulence of the Durban Hilton to the shanty shacks in Soweto – the African people – the sights – the countryside – Sun City (wow!) – the game parks and of course the cricket! Just one layer on top of another”

“The accommodation was incredible. I never thought I would be staying at the Hilton, only a two minute walk from Kingsmead. We were absolutely spoilt”

“The guys were fantastic and made sure everyone was well looked after”

“Could not have asked for better”

“Kepler was great! Merv was pretty cool too”

“The whole package, people, and atmosphere made the trip thoroughly enjoyable. Well done and thank you!!”

“Jamie and Gerhard were great. Thank you to you both for a well organised trip. Nothing was too much trouble”

“Couldn’t get better hosts. Merv was sensational and Kepler was also extremely good. Both approachable and mixed well with all age groups”

West Indies Tour 2003

"We had such an incredible time - the great people in our group, the outstanding cricket, the free time to do our own thing and the weather was sensational! The organised functions and tours certainly added to the experience - it was great to have most meals and functions paid for before we left Australia so we didn't have to worry about paying for tour extras whilst in the Caribbean!"
- John & Janette

"The Barbados and Antigua tour was a great mixture of nice resorts, beautiful beaches, fun tour functions and friendly people! The AST staff were all very helpful and made travelling in the group easy! The Jolly Roger Pirate ship was a fantastic day and the Barbados Island Tour gave us an opportunity to get about the island and experience all of Barbados! We liked the mixture of organised activities and free days and also the choice to be social or take it easy!"
- John and Sandy

"The trip went too quick was the only negative!! The seats and the atmosphere at the cricket was incredible! The good range of people in the group with different backgrounds and age groups made the tour interesting and with the organised tour functions there was plenty of opportunity to get to know people! Accommodation was good - clean and tidy and close to shops and restaurants! Thanks Tour Leaders and AST!"
- Sonia

"Thanks AST for all the assistance. It was nice that it was made evident my husband had a special condition and we were certainly comfortable that we would be looked after! Thanks to our fearless leader - Matt! The tour functions with the Australian Team members attending were so amazing! Are they all trained comedians?"
- Brian and Vera

"Friendly staff, easy going and willing to help! The Tour match and Caribbean sixes were a great intorduction to life and cricket in the Windies... the interaction with Aussie players was outstanding! Everyone who attended the ANZAC Day memorial service was an inspiration to Australians - this was a definite highlight. The nights out were great and I enjoyed the Jolly Roger Ship!"
- Matt

"So many positives!! The Jolly Roger Pirate ship, the cricket seats that made the play feel so close, Jamie as a tour leader was a great help and I really enjoyed the farewell party - and other parties! One part of the tour that was a fantastic highlight was getting to meet West Indian greats like Colin Croft, Richie Richardson and Courtney Walsh".

"The cricket seats were excellent! The group were all friendly and amicable! Thanks AST - everything was so organised! I had a fantastic time, St Lucia was certainly a fabulous destination!"

"Great seats at the cricket - very impressive!! Under cover and fantastic position! This definitely makes the tour worthwhile! The friendliness and professionalism of Jamie and Sean is a credit to AST! I really appreciated the information provided about extra tours, like island day trips and restaurants and nearby attractions!"
